Custom Escapements

The last six inches of a feeding system decide whether the whole thing works — and it's where most feeding companies stop. They deliver parts to the end of the linear track and hand the rest to you. We design what takes it from there: singulating one part, holding it exactly where your robot expects it. Every cycle.

The Range

Six Escapement Types We Build

Bellco side shuttle escapement, which spaces parts apart so a robot can pick two at a time

Side Shuttle

Shuttles parts sideways off the track and spaces them apart, so a robot can take two at a time. On one system it set parts 200mm apart for a dual-part pick every six seconds.

Bellco horizontal rotating escapement, which holds a singulated part in a fixed position for a robot to press out from below

Rotary

A horizontal rotating escapement holds the singulated part in a fixed pick position. The robot drops down, presses a pin through the bottom and lifts the part out — no vision needed to find it.

Pull-Back

Grips and retracts the leading part to break contact with the queue behind it, so the part your tooling takes is not being pushed by the next twenty.

Bellco blow-feed escapement, which fires a singulated part down a tube to the assembly point using compressed air

Blow-Feed

Fires the singulated part down a tube directly to the assembly point using compressed air. The right answer when the pick point is somewhere a robot cannot easily reach.

Multi-Stage Pneumatic

Two or more gates staging parts in sequence before the pick point, for applications where a single gate cannot separate the queue cleanly enough.

Four parallel escapement tracks on a single Bellco baseplate, each with its own pneumatic gate

Multi-Track

Several escapement lanes on a single baseplate, presenting multiple parts at once for pick and place

THE HAND-OFF

WE DESIGN AROUND YOUR GRIPPER.

An escapement only works if it works with the tooling that picks from it. So we don't design ours in isolation and hope it clears.

SEND US YOUR GRIPPER MODEL

Send the 3D model of your gripper or end-of-arm tooling and we design the escapement around how you're actually going to pick the part — approach angle, clearance, and all.

YOU SEE THEM TOGETHER BEFORE WE BUILD

Your design review shows your gripper and our escapement in the same model. You confirm the pick works on screen, before anything gets machined.

TOP RAIL CUT FOR YOUR TOOLING

If your gripper has to come down into the track, we cut the top rail to clear it. Most suppliers don't know what your top rail looks like until it lands on your dock — and neither do you.

Common Questions

Escapement FAQs

Can I buy an escapement on its own?

Yes. Most of ours ship as part of a complete feeding system, but if you have a working feeder and the problem is at the pick point, send us the part and the pick geometry and we will engineer the escapement to suit.

Which escapement type do I need?

It is decided by what happens next. A robot picking from above usually wants a rotary. A robot taking two at a time wants a side shuttle. A pick point a robot cannot reach wants a blow-feed. A queue pushing on the part you are trying to take wants a pull-back. Tell us the downstream operation and we will tell you the type.

Will it integrate with our controls?

Yes. Escapement end-of-track sensors wire into an I/O block that drops into your existing equipment, and pneumatics are SMC throughout with 110V or 220V options. On vision-guided systems we can supply the control cabinet, PLC and wiring as one package.

How precisely does it hold the part?

Precisely enough that a robot does not need vision to find it. On rotary escapements the part sits in a fixed nest through the pick, so the robot goes to a taught position rather than hunting for the part.

How long does it take to get a quote?

Three business days is our average. Send us the part — or a drawing of it — along with your target feed rate and how the parts need to be presented downstream, and an engineer will come back to you with a scoped quote rather than a ballpark.

What support comes with the system?

Every system ships with a one-year warranty covering parts and labor, and you get direct access to the engineers who built it rather than a ticket queue. We provide remote diagnostics at no charge and can dispatch on-site support anywhere in North America.

Will the escapement work with my gripper or end-of-arm tooling?

Yes, and we design it that way from the start. Send us the 3D model of your gripper and we’ll build the escapement around your actual pick — including cutting clearance into the top rail if your tooling needs to come down into the track. You’ll see your gripper and our escapement together in the design review before anything is machined.

Ready to Start?

Let's Engineer Your Escapement.

Send us the part and tell us what takes it from there — a robot, a chute, a piece of your own tooling. We will design the escapement around that hand-off and show you the SolidWorks model first.
